AI and requirements

A witty statement in doesn’t prove anything. But in this case, he does have a point.

AI can not replace a developer (or architect, or… or…) as long as the demand-side remains so vague and unclear in expressing requirements.

This is precisely why many outsourcing projects (including outsourcing to India) have failed. People are very bad at describing precisely what they want, and that is often not even what they actually need. Knowledge about the context of the request, rules and regulations, and experience are irreplaceable.

So if you are worried about your job in a world with AI “developers,” remember that until the demand side is also AI, your “no” is far more valuable than 100 yesses from an AI.
